Alright, so this article is a bit of my own speculation based on a previous one made a few weeks back by other fans. The theory as it stands is that Harley may currently be in the early stages of pregnancy in the DCEU.

Here is a picture of evidence for that theory below:

As you can see, in the top right corner there are outfits for a toddler. That said, this is all information we already know. However, what if the concept is correct but the way we are thinking about it is totally off? Here's what I mean:

The Joker actually wants to get Harley pregnant. This means that, in fact, Harley is not currently pregnant but the Joker plans on it in the near future. Let me explain a little deeper:

The Joker's Motives

The Joker has always been a guy who only looks out only for himself. No matter what the situation, the Joker always makes sure that he's the one who gets away clean in the end. This selfish motivation is actually displayed right in front of our very eyes in Suicide Squad. What, on the surface, appears to be the Joker doing anything for his girlfriend in a sweet and twisted way is actually not the case at all. The Joker actually wants Harley back so he can get her pregnant, therefore taking the "relationship goals" out of their relationship.

Alright, so maybe you're still not convinced that my theory could be correct. Well let's take a line straight from the Joker's mouth in Suicide Squad. In the film, the Joker rescues Harley Quinn by using a helicopter (before being shot down) and lots of weaponry. After the two embrace in a kiss the Joker states:

"By the way, I've got some grape soda on ice and a bearskin rug waitin'."

From my interpretation, the Joker plans to get drunk with Harley (wonder how being drunk feels to them?) and then basically get romantic on a bearskin rug. This would perfectly stand to reason that the Joker wants to get Harley pregnant, allowing him to have a successor.

The only real problem in this theory is we don't know for certain how old this DCEU Joker is.

Joker's Age Importance

Joker's age is key in determining why he is even thinking about a predecessor. If he is getting older (which, by his looks, he doesn't seem too old, although Jared Leto himself is 44), this means that he has started thinking about someone who would carry on his legacy. On the flip side, the Joker might want to start training his predecessor while he is younger so he is able to show him or her the ropes of what he does.

It's also worth mentioning that in the comics that they had a daughter named Lucy (Black Canary) while the Joker was assumed to be at a decently younger age. That said, Lucy didn't know her father, but reversing this part of her backstory could be easily done on screen. At the time it's still a fairly tough call as to if Harley is pregnant or will ever become pregnant in the DCEU. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the DCEU holds for Harley and Joker.

What do you think? Could the Joker be wanting to impregnate Harley or is he just a nice guy? Let me know what you think in the comments down below!
