Season 2 Release Date Not Yet Announced, But It's Coming

Susanne Bier, the director for all six episodes of the critically-acclaimed miniseries, recently revealed to BBC that a script was "slowly being developed" for a second season. She also talked about her excitement in pursuing another season. However, she admits the challenge to create something that lives up to fans' expectations is daunting:

"We all very much want to do a season two, but the thing we absolutely do not want is to do something that does not live up to the level of season one... That would be a really bad idea."

The first season aired originally in the United Kingdom on February 21st 2016 and more than nine million people watched its season finale on the BBC last March. The series began airing in the United States on on April 19th 2016 and has been sold internationally to over 180 countries.

Hiddleston Says He'd Consider Returning

During an interview with the BBC in May 2016, Hiddleston was asked whether there would be a second season and whether he would return. At the time, he revealed that he didn't know whether there would be a second season since the adaptation of the novel was finished - which worked as its first season - and that producer Simon Cornwell stated, "we're not ruling a second [season] out, but we're also not ruling it in."

When pushed whether he would return if there were a script handy, Hiddleston gave the courteous answer of:

"If There Was A Script, I'd Consider It. Absolutely, Yes."

Well, now we know the script is being developed, Hidds! Here's hoping the "consideration" from the handsome, talented Brit translates into a "sign me up" soon.
