When I first heard that was hopping on board the space train and working on an original script within the sci-fi genre, I was all about it. Interstellar sounded promising in a big way. A decent, occasionally visionary director with a stellar cast that included , , , and , a dip into straight science fiction, and a step away from the Batman franchise.
But recently, the Fort McLeod Gazette, the newspaper from the town in which Interstellar is currently filming, revealed some details about the plot, and...well, let's just say I'm a bit less excited. The plot sounds corny. Really, really corny. Literally:
Set in the future, the movie details the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn the last crop to be cultivated. The scientists embark on a journey through a worm hole into other dimensions in search of somewhere other crops can be grown.
Not sure how I feel about that, honestly. On the other hand, we have a big batch of pictures from the set, where Nolan & co. used giant fans to whip up a fake dust storm for the cast to drive through:
Along with the actors mentioned up above, the rest of the incredibly talented cast includes , , , , , , , , , of course, and a recently-announced .
So what do you think? Does the strength of the cast make up for the corny plot? Or is this movie already running the risk of being the next big budget sci-fi flick to flop? I guess we'll find out on November 7th of next year when it hits theaters.
