Shane Black's The Predator has been significantly delayed. The film was expected to be released on February 9, 2018 but after a little reshuffling, Fox has pushed the release back to August 3, 2018.
The highly anticipated #horror flick will act as both a sequel and reboot to the franchise. It will be set in the modern day, after the 1987 classic #Predator and its sequel Predator 2, though it may not actually acknowledge the events of either film.
Black starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original and promises that The Predator will be an event film. It has already commenced filming in Vancouver and stars Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Sterling K. Brown, Keegan-Michael Key, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Alfie Allen, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, Edward James Olmos and Kyle Strauts as the alien hunter.

A Summer Blockbuster
This actually isn't the first time that The Predator's release date has been changed. It was originally set to be released in March 2018, before it was brought forward to February. However, the sudden move to Summer suggests that the studio has a lot of faith in the project.
Everyone loves a summer blockbuster, and it seems like The Predator will serve as Fox's offering in that category. Having said that, it will find itself going up against the likes of Universal's Scarface remake and Warner Bros.' shark thriller Meg.
While both of those films are indeed contenders, The Predator still stands a strong chance of taking the crown, especially due to the fact that it's been a long time coming and that it's the latest installment in a beloved horror franchise. And it looks like Fox seems to think so too.
Releasing the film in the heart of the summer could be the greatest compliment the studio could give Black and his crew. Now, let's hope the film lives up to those high expectations.
