I felt like Mrs. Krabappel was my teacher as much as she was Bart's. Especially in the early years of The Simpsons, when Bart took centre stage a lot more, she appeared in most episodes as the sour, cranky, and long-suffering teacher we could all relate to. Now, that Marcia Wallace, the actress who voiced the character for 25 years, passed away last year, the character of Edna Krabappel will be retired.

Marcia Wallace, the Emmy award winning actress, was given the tribute she deserves, after the conclusion of last night’s two new episodes of The Simpsons. FOX aired a brief epilogue remembering Edna Krabappel, Bart’s tolerant teacher and recently the wife of The Simpsons’ neighbour Ned Flanders.

Below is the segment that aired last night, where both Flanders and neighborhood bully Nelson reflect on the loss of Edna. What do you think of the tribute?
