Much to the delight of those of us who are still mourning the loss of The X-Files years later, actor has never made a secret of the fact he'd be down to play FBI agent Fox Mulder forever (Seriously, it's only taken me five years of therapy and countless shots of whiskey to fill the gaping hole left in my heart by the show's departure).
The actor recently reaffirmed these ideas during an appearance on The Tonight Show with host . Duchovny was there presumably to promote his current TV show, Showtime's Californication and upcoming movie Phantom, but talk soon turned to the X-Files and whether fans would ever see a third movie. This time, though, Duchovny called upon fans to get things going by way of a letter-writing campaign to Fox Studios:
We always want to. [Creator] Chris Carter and [co-star] Gillian Anderson and I, we're always on board. You want to write Fox and get 'em going... You could wheel me [out]. I'll play Fox Mulder forever.
Check out the clip of Duchovny discussing his ideas below, and another one of lobbying the actor for a role in a third X-Files film if it ever happens.
So there you have it, "Spooky" fans. The holy triumvirate of our beloved sci-fi cult show are onboard, and suggest we get things rolling. Do I smell an online petition or Kickstarter campaign in the near future?
