Oh my gosh, Daryl Dixon has a secret admirer! Who would've thought he'd finally find love in such a hopeless place?
That's right: Just as we thought we were going to be subjected to another round of Easy Street, something was slipped under the door of Daryl's cell. No, it's not another candid polaroid of Glenn's brains: It's a note that says "Go now". And on the back? A single match, and Daryl's key to freedom.

The key is clearly meant to unlock the cell door, while the match is a little more perplexing. Are we going to see some wicked pyrotechnics?
But the bigger questions remains: Who's it from? The only clue we have to the identity of the mysterious note-writer is the neat style of their handwriting. Unfortunately we don't have any handwriting samples from other characters to reference, so it looks like we're just going to have to narrow down the most likely suspects:
Sherry's always had a soft spot for Daryl, ever since he helped her escape the Saviors back in Season 6. Things have changed a lot for her since their last encounter in the forest, but she still seems fond of him. She tried to talk to him in the doctor's office, and intervened when she realized he was about to get caught trying to escape the first time.
She might have been trying to stop Daryl leaving before, but maybe Sherry has had enough of seeing poor Daryl suffer. With Negan preoccupied with babysitting duties back at Alexandria, she knows this is the perfect window for Daryl to make a run for it. And who else would be able to get access to his cell door key so easily?
Joey was responsible for leaving Daryl's cell door open last time he attempted an escape. It's likely that that was a trap set up to teach Daryl a lesson for trying to leave. Or maybe Joey is just a little careless, and it was Daryl's own bad luck that led him to a run-in with Negan and his crew while sizing up the motorbikes.
But could it be that Joey's neglect was actually intentional? We don't know much at all about Joey. Maybe he's a thug with a heart of gold after all.
Michonne's headed straight for Negan, and she knows that's where Daryl is. It would make more sense for her to unlock the door herself and have Daryl fighting alongside her, but Michonne's been pulling out-of-character antics ever since she started doing the horizontal shuffle with Rick. And if killing Negan really is on her mind, she probably doesn't have time to give Daryl the rundown on her plan. Can't chat, got an assassination to pull off!
Jesus is the most likely of Rick's allies to successfully sneak in to The Sanctuary, steal Daryl's cell key and slip it under the door completely undetected. The two didn't exactly get off to the best start, and a well-liked guy like Jesus can't handle the idea of someone resenting him over a bad first impression. Basically, this is Jesus' way of saying, "sorry I waterlogged your truck full of toothpaste and other necessary items".
Daryl's enemy number one, Dwight has a serious chip on his shoulder thanks to that guy. But after a few days of trying to work out how to use the crossbow properly and failing to look as cool as Daryl on that bike, Dwight's beginning to think his grudge might be a little misplaced. Daryl might be Dwight's only hope of escaping Negan's clutches and distancing himself from a weird life that involves having to listen to Negan brag about banging his wife 24/7.
Then again, Dwight doesn't seem like one to let bygones be bygones so easily. He's got a cushy position as Negan's right hand man, and things are probably too weird to make it work with Sherry anymore. Which can mean only one thing: Dwight is setting a trap.
That Negan fellow sure is a prankster. Who says you need the internet to be a troll? First the motorbike trap, and now this! It's highly likely that Negan is testing Daryl to see just how obedient he is. Has he managed to successfully break him, or will he try to escape once more?
I can see it now: Daryl stumbles out into the sunlight, lured yet again by the irresistible sight of motorbikes. The Saviors catch him, and hold him until Negan gets back from Alexandria. Negan returns, takes the match off Daryl, and strikes it across Lucille. He then uses it to light a cigar, like a total badass, blowing smoke in Daryl's face. Punked!
Does next week's Walking Dead promo reveal anything about the secret note?
