With seven seasons and counting, AMC's The Walking Dead has found a good balance of comic book source material and original content. Fans of the Robert Kirkman's comics are constantly on the lookout for scenes in the show that are taken directly from the black and white pages.
Besides comparing the adapted storylines like "All Out War," there is also much discussion contrasting the characters' #TV and comic aesthetics. A few characters in Season 7 seemed to jump right from the comic pages directly onto our TV screens, think the spot-on looks of Negan and King Ezekiel, while others only share minor similarities.
One particular TWD character experienced an injury in the comics back in issue #28 that has not happened in the show — to the dismay of many fans. In the memorable issue, the Governor cut off Rick's right hand as a way to teach him a lesson.
Have you ever wondered what Andrew Lincoln's portrayal of Rick Grimes would look like with one arm? Well, look no further, because a fan artist recently took to Instagram to post his version of a live-action, comic book-accurate Rick.
The awesome fan art envisions Rick with a prosthetic claw. There is no doubt that the loss of Rick's hand hampered his fighting capabilities in the comics but he quickly made it work. Andrew Lincoln has stated multiple times that he wants TV Rick to also lose his hand, but the expense of the green screen CGI would make it too costly.
The show has already been down that road with Merle and Hershel — and let's face it, their CGI budget might be a little Shiva-heavy at the moment based on the deer fiasco.
Instagram user ferpeffesklupp also gifted us with a few more fan art pieces featuring comic book-accurate versions of Carl and Andrea. Chandler Riggs is shown to match with Carl's current look: shorter, slicked-back hair and sleeveless shirt. (The artist added that Carl's wound was flipped for a better angle.)
There is also a post containing Laurie Holden as comic book-inspired Andrea if she were still alive on the show. Her character in the comics is still a major member of Rick's group and highly important to the community's survival.
You can always count on #TWD fans to create some unique and amazing fan art! The artist is currently taking suggestions for the next set of crossovers, so be sure to follow the account.
