So on Sunday's premiere of Season 4 of The Walking Dead, long-time fans may have noticed that it was Daryl Dixon (), and not Rick (), who seemed to have stepped into the role of leader of the prison group.

Carol () certainly implied as much when she thanked Daryl for bringing home food for the group, saying, "Just so you know, I liked you first." The point was driven home further when a clearly uncomfortable Daryl deflected her praise, reminding her, "Stop. You know Rick brought in a lot of them, too," to which she responded, "Not recently." Burn.

But though the episode (intentionally?) left things vague, the follow-up episode of The Talking Dead definitely confirmed Daryl has now supplanted Rick as the leader. Check out the below graphic that was aired:

Didn't see that coming, but it will for sure provide for an interesting dynamic as the show progresses. Anyone who's ever dealt with the politics of a work place or small group knows that it creates for D-R-A-M-A. It will be interesting to see how Daryl handles the pressures of leadership as Season 4 unfolds.
