After Tom Payne's character revealed he was gay on The Walking Dead, Jesus has seemingly paved the way for others to follow in his footsteps. That's right, guys. Someone else has seen the light and come out on the hit zombie show. This time though, it's one of the real life actors who's opened up, rather than one of the survivors struggling to defeat Negan.

In an emotional video, Daniel Newman — who plays Daniel in The Walking Dead — explained why he's decided to make this brave move.

In the clip, Newman reveals how a chance encounter at a homeless youth shelter convinced him that coming out was the right thing to do. After volunteering, a girl thanked Daniel for his support, “like she didn’t deserve it."

It turns out that the girl had mistaken Newman for being straight, but when he corrected her, the teenager then challenged Daniel on why he hadn't made this information public.

“It hit me like a gut punch. It felt like someone knocked the wind out from me."

Fighting zombies and Negan's tyrannical reign must have been a walk in the park compared to the struggle that Newman faced in that moment.

“I realized how important it is in this day and age to be visible. When you’re doing incredible things and hiding who you are, you are hurting hundreds of millions of people.”

Surprised by this revelation? Prepare to be even more shocked by these 'The Walking Dead' deaths in the clip below:

The former Calvin Klein model took this opportunity to spread a much-needed message of tolerance that applies to all forms of prejudice, whether sexuality is an issue for you or not.

"Stereotypes and stigmas... If you don't like them, you need to be visible, to change them."

Making his debut in Season 6 of The Walking Dead, Daniel was the first named Kingdom survivor to appear on the show. Since then, Daniel has fought beside Ezekiel to protect his fellow allies, appearing in scenes with principal characters such as Morgan and Carol.

Following performances in The Vampire Diaries, Homeland and Sex and the City, Newman continues to make his mark on genre TV with his latest role, one which could soon be fleshed out further... assuming of course that Daniel survives The Walking Dead Season 7 finale. Let the Jesus/Daniel shipping commence!

Do you think that Daniel Newman's character should be gay on The Walking Dead too?
