If we've learned anything from The Walking Dead Season 7B teasers, it's that retribution is on the horizon. Rick and his gang are out for blood— specifically, Negan's blood. While he'll have to turn up the charisma to charm the other groups to join the fight against the Saviors, he's at least got one loyal and very capable fighter on his side: Jesus.
Tom Payne (Jesus) confirmed back in December that his character is definitely up for a brawl against the ruthless Saviors. He also revealed some juicy details about Jesus' fate in Season 7B to fans on the Walker Stalker Cruise, a three-day zombie fest for fans of #TheWalkingDead on the high seas.

Jesus Is About To Go Neo
We know Jesus is more than capable of handling himself against a hoard of walkers, but Kung Fu Christ is about to take his skills to the next level when he faces off with Negan. He's going to be taking some serious inspiration from The Matrix in a "really cool" scene that involves him ducking to avoid a blow from Negan's deadly baseball bat, Lucille, in a move that Payne promises will make Negan "look stupid":
"There is an awesome fight scene in the comic books where Negan's like 'Why haven't I killed you yet?', and I'm like, 'Because your soldiers suck!'"
It's obvious Negan has no idea who he's dealing with— remember Jesus' epic battle at Hilltop?
A Worthy Adversary?
Don't forget that Negan, who's known to tower over his subordinates in both height and rank, is a much more intimidating adversary than even the most ravenous walker. Jesus is far more used to smiting the undead than the living, and Negan definitely has the physical advantage.
While Payne admits that taking on the Big Bad himself is "a whole different thing" to clearing out rambling walkers, he also says Jesus is more than prepared for what lies ahead:
"A lot of people are like, 'Oh, Jeffrey [Dean Morgan]'s taller than Tom and I'm not sure.' A lot of my training is how he would fight somebody who is taller than him so we've worked hard on that."
Warning: comic spoilers ahead!
Kicking Ass And Taking Hostages
If you've read The Walking Dead comics, then you're probably well aware of exactly what Jesus has in store for Negan. In typical Jesus fashion, he manages to cunningly capture and disarm Negan, holding him hostage in order to help his fellow survivors escape danger. It's a gutsy move, and one that perhaps only Jesus could pull off.
While the show has been mirroring key parts of the comics fairly closely, it's possible that this particular sequence could take on an original twist and surprise us all. With Season 7B just around the corner, we won't have to wait long to find out.
