Ever since Season 7 of The Walking Dead concluded back in April, fans have been waiting patiently to learn when the much anticipated eighth season would finally premiere. With Season 3 of companion series Fear the Walking Dead being 16 episodes long, there was much speculation over whether or not this would mean a late start date for the original AMC series. However, it now looks like fans can rest easy after the Season 8 date has been confirmed! premiere.

A newly release piece of series art has revealed the Season 8 premiere date as Sunday, October 22. This has been one of the more probable dates picked for the show's return, and it also likely means that Fear the Walking Dead will end with a two-hour finale.

Not only does the image show the Season 8 premiere date, but it also reveals a very cool Season 8 poster. The artwork shows leaders Rick and Negan in the foreground staring each other down while their supporters stand at the ready in the background. Jadis, Eugene, Simon and Dwight align themselves with Negan, while the joint forces of Alexandria, the Hilltop and the Kingdom fill the majority of the screen. Even Shiva the tiger joins the fight!

Along with confirmation of the premiere date, Walking Dead fans can also look forward to the show's panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 21. The Walking Dead SDCC panel has traditionally been where the show confirms details for the upcoming season and also debuts its first trailer. With Season 7 of the show having finished on a chaotic battle, fans are gearing up for a war to end all wars in Season 8, with Rick and Negan set to duke it out once and for all.
