It's been a long time coming but The Walking Dead Season 8 finally began on Sunday night and we couldn't be happier. After a somewhat slow and rather annoying seventh season, fans had been hoping that the hit AMC series would pick up the pace as we head into its eighth installment, and the premiere episode is certainly a step in the right direction.
Following the events of #TheWalkingDead Season 7 finale, Rick has assembled quite an army with the help of Maggie, Ezekiel and Jesus. Together, the folks of Alexandria, the Hilltop and the Kingdom made their way to the Sanctuary to take on Negan and his Saviors. Despite all the action and drama, there is one horrifying scene in particular from the premiere episode that has everyone talking. Check it out below:
Note: This post contains spoilers from The Walking Dead Season 8 premiere.
Gabriel Is Trapped With Negan
As Gabriel exited the zombie-infested Sanctuary, he discovered Gregory, who was in serious danger of getting eaten. Gabriel, being the good Samaritan that he is, knew that he couldn't leave Gregory to die, so he exited his vehicle to go and give the older man some help.
However, in typical Gregory fashion, the leader of the Hilltop colony stole Gabriel's car and left him there to die. Panicking and looking for a way out, Gabriel grabbed the first door he could find, entering a nearby trailer in the yard. However, he was unaware that Negan was also hiding out in the trailer. Oh dear.
The Internet Couldn't Handle This Scene
Social media users had a lot to say about everything that happened in the Season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead, but Gabriel being trapped with the murderous Negan was at the top of their WTF moments. Some users were understandably annoyed that Gregory abandoned Gabriel, while others were significantly upset that the priest is now sharing a trailer with Negan. Check out the best reactions below:
Now that Gabriel and Negan are trapped in the same trailer, we're thinking the villainous tyrant will inflict pain and suffering on the priest. However, when Negan stumbled out of the Sanctuary earlier in the episode, he appeared to have a leg injury — could Gabriel use this to his advantage and escape? Or is this the end of the friendly Gabriel? Either way, this scene left everyone horrified. I guess all we can do is pray for Father Gabriel and his safe return to Alexandria.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
