The Lego Movie has driven audiences wild, but Lego has been awesome for so much longer than that. Check out this sweet Lego ad from 1981.

Notice anything? That's right. It's just a kid with some Lego. No aggressive 'this is for girls', 'this is for boys' bullshit, just a kid being creative.

Great...until you fast forward to 2014. The same little kid, Rachel Giordano, posed with a modern day lego set. Notice anything different?

Rachel's still smiling, but the new Lego set is SAD.

Now, people always say, Who cares about pink LEGO? Why does it matter? Over to you, Rachel Giordano:

I know that how I played as a girl shaped who I am today. It contributed to me becoming a physician...Doctor kits used to be for all children, but now they are on the boys’ aisle. I simply believe that they should be marketed to all children again, and the same with LEGOs and other toys.

We have to let advertisers know we won't take it anymore. We won't buy products that don't reflect our reality.
