Now, Robert Downey Jr. may be the A-List face of the new era of superhero-dominated cinema, but for many fans, it's that is at its heart. He, after all, has been tufting his hair to play since way back in 2000, and has become a firm fan favorite as a result. Heck, for many of the younger fans among us, it's difficult to remember a time when Jackman wasn't Wolverine.

All of which, of course, makes it all the more upsetting that 's upcoming is set to be Jackman's final cinematic excursion as the famously Canadian mutant. Which, exciting as the prospect of the film's arrival may be, still makes the whole experience of waiting for it to arrive a little bittersweet — not least because...

I mean, just look at him...

For all intents and purposes, the man is Wolverine at this point. Which makes it fundamentally dispiriting that, after Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017, we may well never see Jackman play the role again. Unless, of course, this whole thing is just a cunning ruse to persuade us all to go to see Logan, and Jackman has secretly already signed a three-picture deal to keep playing an aged version of the hero well into the 2020s.

It's possible — or, rather, entirely probable — that such imaginings are simply wishful thinking at this point, though. If wishes were kisses, and all that...
