Update: After announcing the cancellation of Timeless earlier this week, NBC has reversed its decision and renewed the show for a second season. The creators of the show, Erik Kripke and Shawn Ryan, took to Twitter to share the good news:

The show will return to NBC sometime in 2018:

Saying goodbye to shows you love is not easy, and for fans of Timeless (myself included), NBC has broken hearts by canceling it. And it's not just us — the cast and crew of Timeless have also taken to social media to express their heartbreak.

The Creators Of Timeless Are 'Surprised And Upset'

The show's creators, Erik Kripke and Shawn Ryan, confirmed the news on Twitter:

Kripke explained that Sony is looking to "find another home" for Timeless, though, as mentioned below by Ryan, we shouldn't get our hopes up.

The creators followed to address that even NBC is disappointed by the decision. Unfortunately, while the show has received a loyal fan base, there just weren't enough viewers:

The Cast Of Timeless Share Their Thoughts And Thanks

Our time-traveling heroes also took to social media to express their sadness. Timeless' leading hero, Abigail Spencer (Lucy), posted to her Instagram an appreciative farewell:

Matt Lanter (Wyatt) followed suit:

But it was Malcolm Barrett (Rufus) who, with his series of tweets, made us all cry:

The Best Timeless Moments

It's hard to pick the best moments on Timeless since almost every episode contained scenes that defined Lucy, Wyatt and Rufus or made us more excited to see the following episode. Nevertheless, perhaps one of the best moments on the show was when Lucy had to write the "Victory or Death" letter at the battle of the Alamo. William B. Travis was supposed to write it, but he was killed by Garcia Flynn (Goran Višnjić). This letter goes to inspire the historical Texas Revolution.

Another great moment on Timeless was when the team traveled to the American Civil War. Here, they faced the dilemma of having to let a person die in order to preserve history. This person was Abraham Lincoln. Lucy made the hard decision not to intervene and stop John Wilkes Booth.

This was actually a dilemma ever-present for the team, as during their many adventures they befriended many historical figures who died before their time.

Will Timeless Ever Return For A Second Season?

As the cast and crew said on their social media accounts, Sony is now looking to air Timeless on a different network. Hopefully the executives are able to find a new home for the show. (Perhaps The CW or SyFy?) Especially since we need to know what happened after the team was left stranded in the past at the end of the first season!

Do you think Timeless will ever come back? Let me know in the comments below!
