If you're like me, you have watched the new Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer dozens of times and searched social media for Easter Eggs, theories, shenanigans, whatever. Just the other day, I found this post by Disney darling Skai Jackson with special guest star Tom Holland:
I know what you're thinking: Big deal, young Hollywood always do selfies together on the Instagram. But here's where it gets interesting.
Remember when Marvel announced that a 14-year-old girl would be building her own armor and taking the reigns from Iron Man as Marvel's Ironheart? Her name is Riri Williams and she's an orphaned super-genius (is there any other kind?) who's currently attending MIT and becoming a top superhero.
What does this have to do with the future of the MCU? Riri's in the comics only and Robert Downey, Jr is still Tony Stark onscreen.
Check this out from Iron Man artist Mike Deodato, Jr:
Did I just blow your mind? #Marvel's current Spider-Man, Tom Holland is hanging out with the inspiration (and probably available actress) for Riri Williams, Skai Jackson! Put that together with all the news coming out on Iron Man 4, and boom: You got yourself a new MCU Legend.
Riri could easily be incorporated into the #MCU. Remember in Civil War when Tony gave a boat-load of grant money to a bunch of MIT students? And who goes to MIT in the Marvel Comic Universe? That's right: Riri. Maybe Tony just gave her the money (or just inspiration) to build her own high-tech Iron Man armor? And Riri's in-armor AI (like Tony's JARVIS) is based on Tony Stark's image and personality. So, Robert Downey, Jr could pull a Paul Bettany and provide the voice to a fledgling Ironheart.
