We might be getting some Les Miserables redux with a re-team of , who directed the Academy Award darling musical adaptation, and his shifty inn-keeping comedic relief, , for the long-rumored Freddie Mercury Biopic.

Deadline reports that the director is on the receiving end several offers, the catch being none of which are formal.

This would bode well for a project that would potentially sport a soundtrack that not only has a built-in fan-base, but also covers an inspiring and touching story that is most definitely Oscar-bait. If Sony pictures wants Oscar, Hooper is no stranger to that territory with a slew of nominations and wins on his filmography and a Best Picture win for The King's Speech.

Do you think Hooper could do the story of Freddie Mercury's life justice? Let me know in the comments.
