Ever since the Tomb Raider film reboot was first announced, fans of the hit video game franchise have been waiting to see more. Set photos raised even more curiosity, and now the movie's first official poster has been released. Check it out below:

Alicia Vikander of A Royal Affair fame will portray a younger Lara Croft, inheriting the role first popularized by Angelina Jolie in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and its sequel, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life. The reboot is expected to follow the events of the 2013 video game: Lara is stranded on the island of Yamatai after a storm shipwrecks the vessel she's on. Trapped on the dangerous island, Lara must use her wits and skills if she is to find the island's legendary treasure and make it out alive, transforming from a desperate survivor into the action heroine who gamers know and love today.

A new trailer is coming on Tuesday, September 19th, and the film's Twitter account gave fans a sneak peek teaser:

Tomb Raider also stars Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight) as the antagonist Father Mathias Vogel, Dominic West (The Wire) as Lara's father Lord Richard Croft, and Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands) as ship captain Lu Ren.

Though little is known about the film's plot, Goggins excitedly described Tomb Raider as "Raiders of the Lost Ark meets a genre version of the Joseph Conrad novel Victory: An Island Tale," promising Yahoo! that the story was "so good" that he had to jump at the chance to star in it.

The movie will open on March 16, 2018.
