(WARNING: The following contains major potential plot SPOILERS for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, albeit ones hidden behind a box of spoiler-protection. Proceed with whatever level of caution that suggests to you is wise, all the same.)
Now, while the eighth movie in the iconic #StarWars saga, #TheLastJedi, may still be close to nine months away from hitting theaters, that hasn't exactly dampened the general sense of frantic overexcitement that many fans are experiencing these days. After all, with The Force Awakens having proven so widely fan-pleasing (and astonishingly financially successful), the stakes are pretty darned high when it comes to The Last Jedi.
Which is probably why #Lucasfilm is working hard to keep as much about the movie as possible under wraps, presumably under the assumption that the less we collectively know about the movie in advance, the more we'll enjoy it when we actually see it. Which, in fact, is something that you should probably keep in mind when you learn that:
Tree-Related Spoilers For 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Are Now Officially A Thing
Yup, that's right. If you are so inclined to read on, you will be able to learn some potential details from The Last Jedi set, each more potentially SPOILER-IFIC and tree-related than the last.
In other words? If you click on the SPOILER-protection box below, you will be in the presence of potential SPOILERS for the movie. So, y'know, proceed however you see fit, and all that.
Ready? Then let's begin:
According to rumor/online leaks, The Last Jedi will feature a giant tree, dubbed a "force tree" by some fans. With a similar tree having turned up in The Clone Wars and Marvel's Shattered Empire comic book, some have thus concluded that the tree will play a key role in The Last Jedi, not least because an image that emerged last year seemed to suggest that it would be hanging around on Luke's isolated island.
That, though, isn't the "new" news. Y'see:
According to Jason Ward over at MakingStarWars.net, that same tree will, at some point in The Last Jedi, be set on fire. Or, at least, he has apparently seen footage of that very "force tree" in flames, something that would seem to either suggest that we will see it on fire in the movie, or that the folks on the Last Jedi set are really bad at fire safety. If what he has seen is indeed accurate, then, it seems entirely plausible that The Last Jedi will feature a scene in which either Luke or Rey has a vision of the tree burning (which would be ominous as hell), or a scene in which some sort of villains burn the thing down themselves. Either way, it seems unlikely to be a good thing for our heroes, unless Rey and Chewie thought to bring the makings of S'mores with them in the 'Falcon.
And so, there you have it. If the above rumors are true, then you have now read some major tree-related spoilers for The Last Jedi, and if they aren't, then you just read some major tree-related nonsense.
Either way, here's hoping that your tree-related news needs have now been met.
What do you think, though? Which sort of tree is your favorite? Let us know below!
