It's a serious business, making movies for kids. Pixar are rumored to have let director go as they reevaluate the direction of The Good Dinosaur.
This is a pretty major decision given that Disney/Pixar are still aiming for a cinematic release for The Good Dinosaur in May 2014. The rumor mill is running as to who would replace Peterson if he has indeed been taken off the project. Co-director would be an obvious choice, with no other names being put forward at present.
Pixar have something of a reputation for chopping and changing. 's Ratatouille underwent a several changes before the cinema edit, and Brave lost director before it finally reached completion.
What do you think of the upcoming Pixar project? I think that any movie that sets out to examine the all important question of 'what if the dinosaurs never became extinct' must be a good thing. Can The Good Dinosaur scale the heights of Brave and Monsters University or will it be left plodding behind?
