Cinemas the world over are about to get very steamy. Flavor-of-the-day erotic novel Beautiful Bastard has a movie deal from Constantin Films, and could beat Fifty Shades of Grey to the big screen.

Written by Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings under the pseudonym Christina Lauren, Beautiful Bastard, yet another novel starting out as Twilight fan fiction was released on Tuesday. The book is already sitting at number one on Amazon's Contemporary Women's Fiction section and a sequel, Beautiful Stranger, will hit shelves in May.

According to IndieWire, the story follows "an MBA student who begins an affair with media mogul boss at the company where she interns". Her boss is blunt, inconsiderate, and completely irresistible – a beautiful bastard, as it were. So basically, this is exactly the same as Fifty Shades, amirite?

Though it seems a writer hasn't been hired yet to adapt the story, Resident Evil's is attached as a producer. Weird. After taking a look at his filmography, he strikes me as a really strange choice to bring this book to life. No writer, director, or cast has been approached yet, but maybe The League star could try out for the male lead since he did so well in his Fifty Shades audition.

We'll have to see how this turns out. It'll certainly be interesting to see if this becomes more than a fad. Does it sound to you like a reasonable replacement for Twilight?
