This season of Supergirl has been rife with the sort of romantic plots we've come to expect from The CW. The introduction of Maggie and Alex as a couple has had the fans swooning, and for the most part, they've endured as the most stable relationship so far. On the other hand though, Kara and Mon-El (or Karamel, according to the shippers), have been the very definition of the “will they, won’t they” trope.
During Episode 16 of Supergirl's second season, Karamel officially called it quits after Kara discovered that Mon-El had been lying about his past. But have no fear, it's only a matter of time before the two rekindle their flame, because you can't have the "will they" without the "won't they".
Sure, Kara and Mon-El’s relationship on #Supergirl can be frustrating at times, but one thing is undeniable: Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood share phenomenal chemistry together. The two characters are adorable to watch when they're not arguing, and the pair always seem to share a genuine affection for each other. Benoist and Wood may be impressive actors, but it turns out that their feelings for each other on screen were actually 100% real.
Chris Wood & Melissa Benoist Are Officially Dating
Entertainment Weekly has reported that Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood are indeed a real-life couple. Before ET's confirmation, fans began to speculate that Karamel had sparked a real-life romance after the two were spotted together on several occasions, walking their dogs, traveling during their off-time, and even holding hands.
During an interview with ET, Chris Wood had this to say about working with Melissa Benoist and their on-screen chemistry:
"[Melissa and I have] found this nice pocket for the characters to live in, it was just so easy to play and she's just so generous as an actress that she just keeps it rolling. She makes it easy."

When photos emerged of Wood and Benoist together at an airport, their fans even crowned the real-life couple with their very own shipping moniker: Melwood. This new budding relationship comes months after Benoist finalized her divorce from former Glee co-star Blake Jenner after almost 2 years of marriage.
Twitter Falls In Love With Karamel & Melwood
Karamel shippers were overjoyed to hear that Benoist and Wood's relationship had spilled over from Earth 38 into our reality. The creation of Melwood has left many fans swooning, and they've taken to Twitter to share their love for the new couple:
This next tweet is my personal favorite, officially claiming a Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor in the name of the couple:
With Kara and Mon-El breaking up on Supergirl, Karamel will no doubt continue their “will they, won’t they” relationship for the rest of the reason. However, at least hardcore Karamel shippers can find solace in Wood and Benoist’s new budding off-screen romance. Make sure to catch Supergirl on Mondays 8PM/ET on The CW.
