Two new names have been added to the cast of The Vampire Diaries spin-off, The Originals.

According to TV Line, Charles Michael Davis (The Game) has been cast as Marcel, Klaus' diabolical former protege. Described as "...wicked, wild, and charismatic," Marcel could find himself at odds with the original Original.

Meanwhile, Daniella Pineda (who has previously appeared in an episode of Homeland) will play Sophie, a witch whose magic has been silenced but not snuffed, though specific details of her character have not yet been released.

They join the already-confirmed (original vampire Klaus), (his brother Elijah) and (werewolf Hayley), all of whom have been regular or recurring characters on The Vampire Diaries.

The bloodsuckers will all first appear in an episode of The Vampire Diaries which will broadcast on April 25, which will serve as a kind of back-door pilot for The Originals.

In the episode, which has been written by Diaries executive producer , Klaus returns to the French Quarter of New Orleans, a supernatural melting pot that he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with Marcel, who now calls the shots. Sounds ominous.

As he'll be a major character in the show, I can't wait to see Davis rise to the challenge. What are your thoughts of this casting? Drop a comment below.
