I don't think I've watched The Simpsons since about 2004, but even I can get excited for Universal Orlando's plan to build a real-life Springfield.

There's been a Simpson's ride for some time, but now they want to build their very own chunk of the famous animated town. There will be an extra ride named 'Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl', but if that's not your thing you can always walk the "streets of Springfield", grab a Krusty burger or have some brew at Moe's Tavern.

President of Universal Creative Mark Woodbury said:

This will be a must-see experience for Simpsons fans all over the world. For the first time ever, they’re going to be able to enter a world that they’ve only seen on television – and we’re really excited to bring that world to life.

Now, that's not strictly true Marky, did you forget the Virtual Springfield video game from 1997?

Anyway, here's a video showing an artist's rendition of the proposed plans, and some pictures of the current Simpson's attractions at Universal Orlando.

The folks at Universal aren't wasting any time: They expect Springfield to open in Summer 2013.

What do you think? Would you make the trip to Orlando to visit Springfield, or are you a bit bored of The Simpsons now? Let us know below.
