There is some serious underground buzz happening for 's remake of cult classic slasher flick Maniac. This version stars , who has seemed hellbent on heaving his Frodo days behind ever since LotR dropped off theater screens (which was 10 years ago, FYI).

The synopsis of the film sheds light on the story of Frank, lonely psychopath:

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank (Elijah Wood) is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna (Nora Arnezeder) appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

The South Korean version of the film's poster was just released, and it depicts a very distraught-looking Wood (Might we say a... mourning Wood?) with his beloved mannequins:

This poster is somehow so very Korean cinema, just as the previously-released Japanese version is bang-on for the stylistic horror we've seen from Japan.

Maniac, along with Wood, stars , , and Megan Duffy. It will be on both theater screens and VOD on June 21st.
