Clear your schedule, February 14th 2014 won't be about candlelit dinners, midnight smooches, or lying in bed alone, silently sobbing at another year of singledom gone by.
No, the Vampire Academy will be opening its doors for the very first time, and it promises far more excitement than the commercialized cheesiness of Cupid's day ever has.
Here's the trailer below for the new teen vamp flick on the bloodied blocks:
So, there's parties, snogging and all the stuff teens should be getting upto. And then, all of a sudden, to the ominous cry of 'blood is pain, blood is death', the trailer takes on a far more urgent, violent manner. See, life at St Vladimir's School isn't tame, by any stretch of the imagination.
This looks like a blast. Will Twilight fans welcome a new teen vamp franchise on the big-screen? It's a tough crowd to appease, but I'm not even sure the franchises are even that similar. Despite the vampire content, this looks more Hunger Games than Twilight to me, more of an dark action-adventure with tweeny stuff attached.
It's also packed with relative unknowns. Okay has starred in Ringer and was in Beautiful Creatures, but she's hardly A-list to the average Joe. Look for the stock of the cast here to go huge next Spring.
"Based on the first book in author Richelle Mead's successful series of "Vampire Academy" books. Rose Hathaway (Deutch) is a Dhampir: half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely within our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi. This is her story."
