Cameos don't really get much bigger than this. In a recent meeting between President Obama and tech bosses, it turns out Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has offered the Commander-in-Chief a cameo role in political drama, House of Cards.
Now, before we get too carried away (and try to use this news for partisan point-scoring), I should add it was all done rather jokingly. Obama met with the heads of various tech companies to discuss improving the troubled Obamacare website and the government's national surveillance efforts. However, during a break in proceedings, the topic of House of Cards also arose.
The President asked the Netflix CEO if he'd brought along advanced copies of Season 2 of House of Cards, which resulted in Hastings inviting Obama to make a cameo. You can watch the exchange in the short CBS News Video below:
Obama isn't the only politician to be a fan of 's Washington DC set drama. The show has become a favorite on Capitol Hill ever since its February 1st debut this year.
If Obama did make a cameo, it wouldn't be all that unusual. Recently more and more politicians have been popping up in TV shows. British Prime Minister Tony Blair famously found time away from invading Middle Eastern countries to appear in an episode of The Simpsons in 2003, while Joe Biden appeared in an episode of Parks and Recreation last year.
Even if Obama didn't provide a direct reply to the offer, it seems like there'll be plenty of opportunity to change his mind. Although House of Cards will be returning in February, 2014 with 26 new episodes, the CEO boss has previously revealed they'd like to carry on the series even further.
