Y'all, it looks like something drove Frodo over the edge in the latest trailer for director 's Maniac. Unfortunately for 's victims, his "Precious" consists of each and every one of their scalps which he drapes on mannequins. Not to be judgmental, but have you ever met anyone who owned a mannequin shop who was normal?
What's cool about this movie -- at least visually -- is that it seems to capture the feel of director William Lustig’s orignal 1981 film, while fusing it with a giallo from the 1970s and 80s. I'm getting definite Tenebre vibes from this one. Beyond that, Rob from the band Phoenix did a pretty incredible job with the score, which you can listen to in the trailer below or in the film's first six minutes. You can watch that here.
Maniac will have a limited release and be available on VOD on June 21.

Here's the official synopsis for Maniac:
Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank (Elijah Wood) is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna (Nora Arnezeder) appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.
