In Avengers: Infinity War, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy will be facing an almost invincible cosmic threat, so one of the most talked about aspects has been who lives and who dies. Fans have made theories for numerous heroes who could bite the dust, such as Captain America, Iron Man and Vision.

We know little about the film, so anything is possible. But we just got a heartbreaking tease about a certain beloved character from the actor who voices him.

Vin Diesel Just Teased Marvel Fans With A Depressed Groot

Vin Diesel, who plays Groot in the MCU, took to Instagram to share a fan-made Infinity War poster focused on . The image is quite ominous; it shows the young hero looking depressed with the caption "Heroes will fall," playing with fans' emotions and opening the possibility of the beloved tree meeting his maker in the film:

Don't you leave us, Groot... don't you dare leave us!

As if that picture didn't hit us in the feels hard enough, Vin Diesel encouraged us to spend our weekend thinking about Groot:

"Have a Groot weekend..."

You smart, conniving creature. I don't know about you, but I find it really hard to enjoy a weekend with the fate of our favorite anthropomorphic tree hanging in the balance.

We probably shouldn't freak out about Groot, because odds are he'll be perfectly safe. If we think about it, the adorable little tree already (sorta) died at the end of , and we saw he could grow back from even the smallest of twigs.

Granted, it took him some time, but he can definitely come back from something as massive as a spaceship crash. With that in mind, I just don't see pulling that emotional card once again, especially with audiences being aware of Groot's regenerative abilities and the fact that seeing him die a second time wouldn't be as impactful.

Plus, we also have to consider 's strong teasing game. Being the star of two separate franchises, the actor knows how to play with our eager hearts, and it's doubtful that he'd overtly tease Groot's demise with his 40 million Instagram followers with the infamous Marvel snipers hanging around his house all day, every day. Now, that doesn't mean that another Guardian won't meet their maker during the superhero epic, but there's very little information at our disposal to make a concrete guess.

Fortunately, we can rest easy knowing that Groot will probably be doing fine when Avengers: Infinity War flies into theaters on May 4, 2018. While we wait for the movie to arrive, check out Marvel's first behind the scenes sneak peek:
