Warning: This article contains spoilers from The Walking Dead Season 7.
The latest season of The Walking Dead has been eventful to say the least, and it all started with the jaw dropping season premiere saw us lose two beloved characters in the most gruesome way imaginable as the villainous Negan took control of Rick and the Alexandrians. If that wasn't enough to cope with, This season has also seen Daryl's torment at the hands of Negan, Tara returning home without Heath as well as the introduction of comic book characters King Ezekiel and his pet tiger Shiva.
The action didn't stop in tonight's episode as viewers got another glimpse of life inside the Saviors sanctuary under Negan's tyrannical reign. With Rick and Aaron out on a mission, Jesus searching for the Saviors — with Carl in tow — and an iconic meeting between Carl and Negan, "Sing Me A Song" was one of the biggest episodes of the post apocalyptic series yet.
Let's take a look at the moments that set our hearts racing from Season 7, Episode 7.
1. Carl Confronts Negan
As the truck approached the Saviors' sanctuary, Jesus decided it was now or never — they were closer than they needed to be, so Jesus jumped off. However, Carl decided to stay behind. When the truck arrived in the Saviors' compound, Carl went total badass and shot some of the Saviors before demanding to see Negan.
Negan came out to see what the commotion was and Carl threatened to kill him; Negan remained steadfast and showed his admiration for Carl. Dwight then apprehended Carl and Negan loomed over the young warrior before offering him his hand. On more than one occasion, Negan commended his badass-ery. The tyrant showed Carl around the Saviors' Sanctuary. The pair have an odd relationship in the comics so it will be interesting to see if that develops in the television series.
2. Negan Confronts His Many Wives
In a rather disturbing moment, Negan showed Carl around the Saviors' compound and stopped at a room full of well-dressed women — they're all his wives. Negan then confronted one of his wives over her supposed infidelity.
The whole scene was rather uncomfortable to watch and it certainly highlighted just how much power Negan has over his community of Saviors. This power was also highlighted by the way the Saviors bow the minute that Negan appears — something the tyrant calls "respect."

3. Carl Revealed
The entire Walking Dead fandom went into shock when Carl lost his eye during the sixth season. Ever since that horrific moment, the young warrior has been wearing a bandage over his wound — and we've never seen what his eye looks like. That all changed in tonight's episode when Negan made Carl take off the bandage, revealing the horrible gunshot wound that takes up a large portion of his face. As we've seen in the past, Negan takes pleasure in the torment of others — and that is exactly what he was doing here.
Negan took advantage of this moment and humiliated Carl, calling his wound "disgusting." Carl got emotional but the ironic thing is that Negan seemed to feel bad for humiliating him. Negan then told Carl that he had to punish him in some form, so he made Carl sing him a song: "You Are My Sunshine." During this performance, Negan swung Lucille about, inches away from Carl's skull.
4. Negan Speaks To The Saviors And Uses The Iron
Negan took Carl to watch as he spoke to his flock of Saviors, all of whom bowed to the tyrant as he spoke. Negan spoke about how they all must follow the rules that he set in place. He asked Dwight to get the iron ready — but it wasn't for Carl. It was for Mark, the man who had slept with one of his wives.
The terrifying Negan stood over Mark, lifted the iron and placed it to his face. I've seen a lot of horrifying moments of The Walking Dead over the past seven seasons, but this one was right up there with the worst. Mark passed out from sheer pain and Negan lifted the iron, reminding the others that this is what their fate would be if they double-cross him.
5. Negan Returns Carl To Alexandria
We were all worried that Negan was going to kidnap Carl and take him somewhere where no one would find him, but that's not the case at all — he took Carl back home to Alexandria. While there, he had his fun by intimidating Olivia again and then decided to take a tour around Alexandria — with Carl as the tour guide.
In a rather unique montage with uplifting music, Carl showed Negan around the house as he checked out their water taps and other household things, but things got interesting when Negan found baby Judith. We were all worried at what would happen next, but Negan picked up the baby and seemed almost caring — almost. Later, he played with Judith while insinuating that he would kill both Rick and Carl sometime in the future.
If you think you know all there is to know about Negan then think again:
There is only one episode of The Walking Dead left this year and with Negan in charge of pretty much every location, I think we can guarantee that the mid-season finale is going to be explosive. With Carol and Morgan still seeking sanctuary at the Kingdom and Maggie taking charge of things at the Hilltop, could we perhaps see several of the smaller communities coming together to take out the tyrant? Will Daryl escape? And What is Jesus up to?
It was recently confirmed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be with The Walking Dead as a series regular through Season 8 but that doesn't necessarily mean that his reign will continue that long. We do know that Negan could face some antagonism as The Walking Dead concludes yet another chapter in next week's mid-season finale.
