The Shiny New Teaser For War For The Planet Of The Apes Suggests A Dark, Snowy Tale
Now, sure, all the video really features is Caesar's final dialogue from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, alongside a strikingly beautiful image of the great ape himself...
...gradually emerging in snow-constructed form...
...but since tonight's special New York Comic-Con panel is reportedly set to feature some brand-spanking new footage, this may well only be the beginning.
Plus, there's something to be said for a mood-setting teaser like that, especially since — from the sounds of the film's synopsis — we're in for something of an emotional rollercoaster ride when it arrives next year:
"In ‘War for the Planet of the Apes,’ the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet."
Now just remind yourself that said ruthless Colonel will be played by the inimitable Woody Harrelson, and prepare to get hugely over-excited. And, of course, to have to wait until July 2017 to actually get your paws on a ticket to see it, you damn dirty ape, you.
