With just under two weeks to go before its premiere, and being shown on 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D screens, Pacific Rim is aiming to go big or go home. In fact, "big" might not be the right word to describe it. "Enormous", "huge", "monstrous", "epic", "colossal", and "gargantuan" might actually be better words to describe the scope and scale of the upcoming film.

Still, there's a head-scratchingly large number of people who are predicting that Pacific Rim will simply be another Battleship.

To which, I simply say, "No."

Just no.

For starters, it has a far better director in and the cast, featuring , , , and already vastly overmatches a cast in which was inexplicably expected to shoulder and carry a good portion of a movie. Battleship was a flop. Pacific Rim will not be.

Our Editor-in-Chief jetted out to San Francisco for the premiere of Pacific Rim (Jealousy level: +20) this past weekend and interview the cast (Jealousy level: Maxed) and had had nothing but awesome things to say about it. With the third clip dropping online this week from IGN, I can see why. This kickass clip features a Kaiju-Jaeger beatdown when the robot mech is charged with protecting the border of Hong Kong from the massive alien. Check it out:

I don't know about you guys, but I kind of want to go out and find an alien now and punch it in the face. I...I should probably wait a bit before venturing out of the office to get lunch.

Pacific Rim smash-punches its way into theaters on July 12th.
