Are you one of the millions of people worldwide who would rather saw off their own limbs than deal with spiders crawling over their face? If you're one of those wise souls, then you may not want to watch this new trailer for Rupture, a sci-fi horror that stars Noomi Rapace under threat from our eight-legged friends... Or maybe you do want to watch the promo and confront your arachnophobia once and for all. A little bit of exposure therapy never hurt anyone, right?
Noooooope. Nope. Nope. Nope.
After playing with our conceptions of workplace sex in Secretary, director Steven Shainberg now wants to play with our conceptions of sanity in Rupture, a sci-fi horror that warns humanity of a danger that lies within.
As seen in the new trailer, #NoomiRapace plays a single mother who's abducted by a creepy AF organisation, one that seems to be populated by mutant spider people. Sure, that's pretty horrifying, but nothing could have prepared us for the moment towards the end when Rapace is forced to wear a glass helmet full of actual spiders. Honestly, Nicolas Cage had it easy in comparison during The Wicker Man remake.
In case you need some more exposure therapy or just love our eight-legged friends, here's another trailer for Rupture that features them in abundance.
Prometheus star Noomi Rapace is joined in Rupture by Michael Chiklis (Fantastic Four), Peter Stormare (22 Jump Street), and Kerry Bishé (Argo). Hard Candy screenwriter Brian Nelson is also on board, writing the screenplay, so you know that Rupture won't hold back on the more grotesque moments. Expect to see spiders in mouths.
Check out the full synopsis for Rupture below to satisfy all of your spidery needs:
"Renee Morgan (Rapace), a single mom who lives with her twelve-year-old son Evan in a quiet suburban home, is terrified of spiders. Unbeknownst to both, their every move is being observed. While running her daily errands her car breaks down and she is violently kidnapped by a group of strangers. About 24 hours later, in an anonymous laboratory, she is tied up and questioned about her medical history, including her great fear of spiders. Soon her captors explain to her that her genetic abnormality can potentially allow her to “Rupture”, revealing her own true alien nature."
