Legendary actor/director has given his blessing to the unconventional remake of his classic hard-edged Western, Unforgiven. The Japanese reboot, Yurusarezaru Mono, which was produced by Warner Bros, went down a treat at its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

Unforgiven director has moved the action of the cult western to 1880s Hokkaido, where a veteran Samurai is forced into one last job - avenging a vicious knife attack on an old acquaintance.

The project is akin to 's classic interpretation of Macbeth, Throne of Blood, and will hopefully secure a wider US release to allow audiences around the world to see the project.

It sounds as if the gritty Western has been made over in a unique and interesting style, which should provide enough new material to merit a watch for fans of the original. Will you be watching Unforgivable?
