Evil Dead surprised a lot of people with its skillful blend of scares, laughs and box office success. Evil Dead 2 would naturally be the next step for producer and horror legend , right?

However, in a recent interview with Bloody Disgusting, director revealed that Raimi may be too obsessed with a long-awaited fourth installment of his initial Evil Dead trilogy to get around to another reboot any time soon.

The pressure is on them now. Because as far as I know, and heard, Sam is really determined to get Army of Darkness 2 happening. He is actually writing [it now].

Hmmm. It sounds like both Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness 2 are very much ON, which can only be a good thing for horror cinema. Original Evil Dead leading man, commented that Army of Darkness 2 has a lot of possibilities to work through before Raimi can get it off the ground:

We have to figure out what we want to do, because this wasn’t a huge long term 18 movie plan, you know what I mean? These sequels – remakes, sequels, whatever you want to call them – come out of nowhere.

What do you think of the news? Are you desperate to see Evil Dead 2 or would you be quite happy to take a demented detour through Army of Darkness 2 first?
