I don't think it matter what decade you were born in, when the intro to Disney's DuckTales came on, we all knew the first few lyrics. Everyone knew that life was like a hurricane in Duckburg. Now, after 19 years (the series premiered in 1987), Disney XD announced that DuckTales will be getting a reboot scheduled for the summer of 2017. They will be bringing back Scrooge McDuck, Launchpad McQuack, Donald Duck and his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and Webbigail. While the news was announced in the Spring of 2016, a teaser trailer has come out, and if you are like me, you are excited. They even seemed to be keeping the original theme song (or a variation of it):

Sure, that may not be enough to get new fans in, but the teaser, topped with the images we have seen of the cast, is the perfect setup to bring in old fans of the original show. What we have seen so far are the things that have to remain staples in the show.

First off, we have the gold coins dropping on the logo. The one thing everyone knows about DuckTales is that Scrooge McDuck is a rich, old miser. Through his many adventures around the world, he has amassed a giant money vault full of gold coins. It's not just the gold coins that people remember — what we remember most is that he can swim through it with ease (his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie tried and failed). There is no way we get teased with the gold coins and not have Scrooge not swimming in them.

Speaking of his adventures, the off-road vehicle that Launchpad McQuack is driving with Scrooge on the top trying to grab a gold relic suggests that we can expect the gang to go on the same random adventures that we have been accustomed to seeing. It wasn't just the issues with the Beagle Boys (who were also reported to be coming back), the gang went all over the world and even back in time.

Lastly, the main crew seems to be getting a bit of upgrade. Huey, Dewey, and Louie will no longer look exactly the same with different color shirts. Louie (green) will be wearing a hoodie and seems to just want to relax and might be a worrier (unlike his brothers). Dewey (Blue) is all about the adventure, and Huey (red) is going to be the smart one of the bunch. The biggest change is going to be Webbigail. She will be going from a reoccurring character to a regular. Not only that, but judging by the image below, she won't be a timid little girl. She will be just as adventurous — if not more — than Huey, Dewey, and Louie.

A lot of what I am saying is all speculation based off the few images and the teaser we just saw. I am confident that the new DuckTales won't flop like so many reboots before because XD has been very reliable with their cartoons. They have always been entertaining true to what the characters have been about. Characters like Peter Parker and Nick Fury in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon are the same characters you see in the comic books while still being appropriate for children. With this show in the hands of the company who originally created the characters, fans of the show can rest easy knowing that our favorite fowl adventurers won't be tainted.
