According to Latino Review, Dredd's producer Adi Shankar confirmed that Dredd 2 is not happening. He said, "The movie was R-rated and people can't deal with that, so it didn't make money... blah, blah, blah."
This doesn't cut it. I was one of those devoted fans who saw this three times in the theater. It's that good. The fact that this movie isn't happening is soul crushing. was able to be everything that wasn't in the original. Likewise, gave one of the most riveting, demented performances of the year as the head of the Mama clan.
Shankar had this to say:
If Dredd becomes a cult hit it will be awesome. Last September was a terrible month… Dredd bombed and then Looper became a massive hit a week later!
My faith in humanity is at a crossroads. If you haven't seen Dredd, do yourself a favor and make that your main priority this weekend. It's out on Blu-ray and DVD. Your bottomless mimosa brunch can wait. I feel like pulling a Mama with everyone who thought about seeing this movie and didn't:
