Over the weekend, the new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 took the internet by storm. You had the humor of the growing relationship between Star-Lord and Drax. And then of course, Baby Groot won the internet's heart with his pint-sized ferocity. If you haven't seen the trailer yet, you can check it out down below:

However, even with all of the excitement buzzing around the movie, there are still some questions that have yet to be answered. More specifically: Where are some of the characters we know are set to be in the movie?

There are several characters that we have seen little to nothing of thus far. So today, we are going to pull some information together to see if we can identify where these characters were.

Yondu was a character that we saw in the first trailer, but only briefly. In fact, this image up above was the only thing we saw of him in the first trailer. That image alone raised a few questions. The biggest question it raised was: Why are Rocket and Yondu working together in the first place? And yet, no one else has seen or heard anything else pertaining to his character in this movie.

There is a good chance that Yondu could play a much bigger part in this movie, as it will deal with reuniting Star-Lord with his father. It would make sense that this would create a bit of tension for Yondu's character, as he is the one who basically raised Star-Lord as one of his own with the Ravagers. It is possible that Yondu could be out looking for revenge against Peter Quill, or even his father, Ego. And what would cause even more tension within the guardians than if Rocket tried to help him, as the image above suggests? So even though we haven't seen much of him yet, there is a high likelihood that Yondu will have a bigger part to play when all is said and done.

Like Yondu, Nebula was someone we saw for a spit-second in the first trailer, but haven't seen or heard from since. From what we saw of her in the first trailer, it looks as if she has been captured by some unknown group. When we last saw her in Guardians of the Galaxy, she hightailed it off Xandar before she could pay for her crimes. We don't really know where she went after that.

It is possible that we could have an idea of where she could be or where she is headed. If look again at the image of her from the first trailer, when she is captured, she is surrounded by a group of people. These people just so happen to be dressed in maroon clothing — clothing that just so happens to be worn by the Ravagers.

Could it be possible that Nebula is captured by the Ravagers after what happened in the first Guardians? The answer is a hundred percent yes! More likely, Nebula is joining the Ravagers and helping them with whatever their end goal is in this movie. From what the concept art and posters have made it look, Nebula is set to transfer from a villain to more of an antihero. For her to join up with the Ravagers seems the most logical way to do so.

Although he most likely will not look like this as an end product, the biggest new character that we have yet to see from trailers or images is Ego, played by Kurt Russell. As said up above, Ego is set to be Star-Lord's father. Thats means there is a large chance that he will not be portrayed as a planet. Now, even though that is the case, it doesn't exclude the possibility that Ego could in some way take a planet-sized form. The reason for this is this image right here:

As you can see, Star-Lord is set to fly somewhere that looks to be a part of space. But what if he is in more than just space? What if he is on a planet? What if that planet just so happens to be his father, Ego, who is normally called Ego the Living Planet? All of this is, of course, speculation, but it would be very cool to see that come to pass for this character.

Along with Kurt Russell, the movie is also giving us an appearance from Academy Award-nominated actor, Sylvester Stallone. Now, it is not know who he will be playing. The fact that we haven't even seen any photos of him on set raises even more questions regarding his casting.

Now, there are a few ideas who he could be playing, but both options are stretches. The first option is he could be simply a part of the Ravagers along with Yondu. Now, he wouldn't be just a regular Ravager. It is possible that he could be a leader of another group of Ravagers, or he could be a second in command to Yondu. The other option is he is part of the Nova core. It could be entirely possible that maybe he is a high-ranking official in the Nova core as well. In all honesty, his appearance in this movie could be as big as what Nathan Fillion's role was in the first Guardians of the Galaxy, which was a small cameo. There is possibility for a lot of different roles, but we should just expect that he could make a small appearance as well.

Wonder Man

Speaking of Nathan Fillion, he is set to make another appearance in . He had a small cameo in the first one, but it looks like they could be giving him a new, bigger role in the sequel. As of right now, Fillion is set to play Simon Williams.

Now, for those who don't know, Simon Williams is the alter-ego of the hero Wonder Man. He has superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes. Now, this image means one of two things. The first thing is the Guardians will eventually be going to Earth. Or, Wonder Man is already established and we may see a flashback. The problem with determining which option might happen is we haven't seen any footage of him either. The fact that Wonder Man is being added to the Cinematic Universe is very exciting. However, the fact that we haven't seen anything about him doesn't help the fact that we still don't know how big of a part he will play in the long run.

In conclusion, while there is a lot of excitement for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, there still seem to be a lot of elements missing. More specifically, there seem to be a lot of key characters that we have yet to see. Now, maybe they are saving this for a much bigger reveal, but the problem is that characters like Ego or even Yondu are too important to be left out of a main trailer. At this point, it wouldn't hurt to give us a little more of a taste of what is to come.

So what do you think? Is there a character who wasn't in the trailer that you wanted to see? Is there anyone you don't want to see until the movie comes out? What do you wish to see from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? Let me know your thoughts down below.
