I find your lack of faith disturbing.
Undoubtedly one of the most memorable Darth Vader quotes ever, this epic line was delivered, as all of you know, by American actor . And you're surely very well aware that Jones provided only the voice-over in the editing process of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. But what about the man under the suit? The guy who had to command physical prowess and intimidation? The actor who with a small gesture of his fingers could Force-choke a member of the Death Star council (Admiral Motti) and would lightsaber-duel Sir ?
Meet , a former bodybuilder and British actor who played the masked Dark Lord of the Sith in the three original movies. He seems to agree with most fans (at least fans born before the 1990s) that the prequels don't live up to their sequels (which are, in real life, chronologically their predecessors). Prowse bluntly told British newspaper The Hull Daily Mail:
I didn't like Star Wars I, II and III at all. I think the common opinion now is they were really bad movies. There's no comparison with the original movies. They had a much more believable story.
When asked if he would like to return to the franchise in upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, Prowse seemed very much open to the idea, albeit he discarded reprising his role as Vader:
Unfortunately, Darth Vader was killed off. But it would be nice to come back and do another character, because no one's ever seen my face. I was never unmasked.
The latter sentence is, sadly for Prowse, very true. decided to give the part of unmasked Anakin in Return of the Jedi to Alec Guinness' close personal friend, , who at the time was down on his luck and looking for a job. Shaw was seen with a bunch of makeup and missing cranium parts when Luke took Vader's mask off, fulfilling his dying wish; and later at the celebrations at Endor as a Force ghost reunited with Obi-Wan and Yoda, looking much healthier. In any case, that last scene has been re-edited by Lucas so that Anakin is shown as a long-haired young .
So, do you agree with Dave's assertion about the prequels? Which role would you recommend Prowse to audtion for in Episode VII? Doesn't this guy deserve to have his face seen at last, not just be the bulk under the dark cyborg armor? If Dave joins forces with Disney, with their combined strength, will they end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy?
