It seems that has been inspired by the recent resurgence of 's Alan Partridge, with Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa enjoying massive popularity with fans and critics alike.

Gervais is looking to develop a feature length The Office Movie, taking his recent 'Learn Guitar with David Brent,' Youtube series as a starting point. Gervais is keen that Brent's cringeable guitar efforts 'will be the basis for a movie about Brent trying to make it in the music industry.' Brent is exactly as good at singing as he is at managing his staff: fans of The Office, you have been warned. Have a watch of Brent's debut single, 'Equality Street.' It is hilarious, I promise.

I'm sure that The Office could be made into a movie very successfully, especially given the enthusiasm for the American version of the The Office, which has been met with critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.

In addition to his The Office themed Youtube series, the exquisitely irritating David Brent also appeared in a ten minute skit for Comic Relief 2013, entitled 'The Office Revisited.'

Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge resurgence has been impressively well-organized and painstakingly thought out, and one can only hope that Ricky Gervais would dedicate a similar level of care and time to making a feature length The Office project a reality. He is certainly garnering more international fans, with his Derek show launching on Netflix shortly, and set for a second season.

Will David Brent achieve musical stardom or should he keep the day job?
