Logan looks set to be something special: After all it is Hugh Jackman's last appearance as the character he has made legendary, and we're all expecting him to leave it all out on the field in the proverbial sense. However, that's not the only thing that this film has going for it, in fact I absolutely see the potential for this to be the best superhero film there has ever been. Why? Well, here's a few reasons!

1. The Right Time!

is the ninth, yes ninth, appearance in an film by . Playing the same character that many times must eventually start feeling like clockwork, but Hugh Jackman will be remembered for this role enough without stretching this part of his career out even longer. Also, every film all the way up to X-Men: Apocalypse, Wolverine only seemed to get bigger and bigger, and unfortunately while Wolverine may be able to keep that up forever, Hugh cannot. The scars on Logan in this film are representative of how Jackman himself has aged in this role, though obvious his scars aren't that severe, and probably not that physically painful. It's the right time for Jackman to stop with the role, but the way he is going out is going to be emotional, and that's only going to add to the nature of this film!

2. The Perfect Setting!

A future where the mutant race is almost entirely extinct? That sounds absolutely horrifying. For Logan and Professor Xavier to have lived through the death of their friends will leave them severely changed in this film, and that is going to be hard to see. They will surely have huge survivor's guilt during the film, and the emotional nature of seeing them remember their friends and the loss of their entire world is something we may not be able to handle. It's going to hurt, a lot.

3. An Appropriate Tone!

While a Deadpool/Wolverine film crossover would have been hilarious, it wouldn't be right for Hugh to go out that way for the final time. Instead this, an incredibly emotional ride, is what we need to see. Logan is set to show us the other side of this universe, a darker place where the heroes never won, they failed, and the remnants were left to try and survive instead of live. It is a terrifying prospect, but one that I think is the right place to go to for something like this, and it is based on a story that was revered among comic lovers, so if they stick somewhat to the source material then I don't see how this can go awry. I also love the slight feeling of The Last Of Us that I get from watching the trailer, the ragged, world-weary man guarding and protecting the girl with the last of his life is an incredibly emotional story, and requires the right people to pull it off, which brings me to...

4. The Perfect Cast!

Hugh Jackman is a phenomenal actor, and while many consider superhero roles to be less challenging to perfect than other roles, this film will stretch everyone involved to their limits, emotionally and professionally. Patrick Stewart is a great addition to the cast, he is the foundation that the X-Men franchise was built upon, and it is brilliant to see him back as Charles Xavier, even if it is a damaged and broken Xavier, like Wolverine appears to be in Logan. Having X-23 is a stroke of genius, because someone should take up the mantle of Wolverine, and who better than the little girl cloned from his DNA? She's a great character in the comics, could be in the role for decades, and best of all this film will literally pass the mantle as Logan guards her and protects her, making the entire film about the passing of the torch.

There it is folks! Frankly, I can't wait for this film, I've never, ever been as excited for an X-Men film (sorry Deadpool) and I really think this could shock fans and surpass many of the superhero films from other franchises next year, making it one of the true greats in the genre. But what do you think? Are you excited for the fresh feel of Logan or worn out from superhero fatigue? Let me know in the comments and check out more superhero related articles below!
