It seems more and more people seem to be confirmed to show up in the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War, which comes out next year. Just recently, three new people were included to the roster, including Spider-Man and #Gamora, but the third character still remains a mystery. Luckily, the actor playing this character is not. It was announced that #PeterDinklage would be showing up in Infinity War.
Dinklage is known for movies such as Elf and X-Men: Days of Future Past, but the role he is most known for is as Tyrion Lannister on the hit HBO show, Game of Thrones. This is also the role that earned him two Emmys.
Now the real question is: Who will Dinklage be playing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? You can bet that with Thanos being the main villain of Infinity War, we will be getting more of Dinklage's character in the future. So why not make him one of the most reoccurring characters in Marvel? That is why without a doubt, Peter Dinklage will be playing none other than M.O.D.O.K.
M.O.D.O.K. is one of the most awaited characters in the #MCU. He has been thought to show up in Iron Man 4 if it were ever to be made, or even the possible Captain America 4, but let us speculate as to why he'll show up, and why Peter Dinklage will be at the helm of it all.
First of all, no disrespect to the man, but he isn't the tallest person ever. As you can see from the image of M.O.D.O.K. above, one of the main factors to his appearance is his height. While M.O.D.O.K. stands at around 5'8", that's mostly due to his machinery. Meanwhile, Dinklage stands at around 4'5". So, while there is about a foot difference in height, using Dinklage would add to the humor of M.O.D.O.K. as a giant robot. Moreover, if you were to tell me that it would not be funny to see Peter Dinklage's face enlarged onto a robotic screen, then you are just lying to yourself.
It is also not hard to mention how fantastic of an actor Peter Dinklage actually is. He is not the first talented actor to be featured as a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — you've had James Spader, Tom Hiddleston, Hugo Weaving, and Ben Kingsley. Sure, some have done better than others, but the villains can only get better from here. As we saw with Chiwetel Ejiofor in Doctor Strange, this is more than possible. What's to stop Peter Dinklage from doing the same with M.O.D.O.K.?
Finally, a big reason as to why Dinklage will play M.O.D.O.K. is due to the fact that he can establish the future of the #MCU, as nothing is currently set in stone for the events after Infinity War. Will the entire universe be rebooted, or will they continue on with a new era of heroes? My best guess is it'll be the second option. After all, they've just introduced this whole wave of heroes like Doctor Strange and Black Panther. #Marvel is sure to use them as much as they possibly can. And if they do, they will need a central force of evil that these new Avengers will need to combat. You had HYDRA with the current Avengers — who could take up that mantle? Luckily, they've already been introduced.
Go back a few years to the events of Iron Man 3. The main villain of that movie was Aldrich Killian. However, Killian didn't work alone; in fact, he had a whole team behind him helping him with trying to destroy Tony Stark. It was a company that Killian had started himself. That company was Advanced Idea Mechanics, or A.I.M.
Now, in Iron Man 3, A.I.M. didn't really do much. We knew that it was the company that backed up all of Killian's experimentation, but that was it. It seemed that after Killian was destroyed, so was A.I.M. But when it comes to Marvel, nothing is dead for long (unless your name is Quicksilver).
If you remember HYDRA in Captain America: The First Avenger, it seemed that when Red Skull was defeated, that they were gone for good. Fast-forward to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and we find out that HYDRA is still alive and now flourishing. It doesn't seem out of the question for the same thing to happen with A.I.M. Also, those who know Marvel know that A.I.M. is as much of a threat as HYDRA at times. And who just so happens to be one of the biggest baddies in A.I.M.?
In conclusion, does it seem like a bit of a stretch to claim that Peter Dinklage will be playing M.O.D.O.K. in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Maybe. Is there a possibility that he will? Absolutely! With the charisma that Dinklage is known for putting into his acting, it would make M.O.D.O.K. even more of a fan favorite than he already is.
Now, of course, seeing as he would be introduced in Infinity War, he would obviously not be the main villain of the movie (that role has already gone to #Thanos), but it seems possible that he could make an appearance either during or after the credits. This would then set him up for an Avengers movie, or maybe another future appearance. Until then, the only thing we can do is wait and see.
What do you think? Do you think Peter Dinklage will indeed be playing M.O.D.O.K.? Do you think he will be playing someone else? Who would you like to see play M.O.D.O.K.? Leave me your thoughts down below.
