I have a comic book coming out soon. I also tweet a lot about comics @KurtArthur12.

Yesterday, Marvel released their first trailer for the upcoming Defenders series from Netflix and it dominated YouTube, trending higher than The Dark Tower's first trailer. Also, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is currently riding a high, delivering one of the best arcs not only for the show, but for all of Television. Can and S.H.I.E.L.D. defeat the almighty Avengers in a hypothetical contest of champions? To make it a fair fight, David Haller will be excluded from this match due to the fact he lives in a different universe. I think you'll be surprised with the results!

The Teams

Before we start with match-ups, we first must declare the teams to battle one another in the fake arena. After the events of Civil War, The Avengers team is currently fractured. However, we all know they'll get back together to battle Thanos. Using current news updates from , we can estimate the teams. Here they are:

  • Daredevil
  • Luke Cage
  • Jessica Jones
  • Iron Fist
  • Ghost Rider
  • Quake
  • The Punisher

1. Ghost Rider Vs. Scarlet Witch

These two overpowered heroes would most likely go against one another in combat. Sorry, Wanda, but Vision is nowhere to be found and Robbie Reyes's Ghost Rider is coming for you. We know that Ghost Rider has an aversion to magic and he's known to put the smackdown on the Hulk from time to time in the comics. I just don't see how Scarlet Witch can win against Ghost Rider. Winner: Ghost Rider

2. Iron Man Vs. Luke Cage

Unless Tony is packing the same arsenal as Diamondback in Luke Cage, there's nothing that can really harm him. All Luke has to do is wait for Tony to get close enough and smash his Iron Man suit just like Bucky and Cap did in Civil War. I mean, Tony could just fly around and try to wear him down, but we're talking about Sweet Christmas, a.k.a. Luke Cage: He doesn't get tired. Winner: Luke Cage

3. Spider-Man Vs. Daredevil

Almost all fans from the comics are drooling from the mouth to see these two on screen together one day, but sadly, that probably will never happen. This is a very close match due Daredevil's agility and being a glutton for punishment, but Spidey is just too powerful and would end up webbing Daredevil before he could do anything. Daredevil would get smoked by Captain America. Plus, we saw Spidey hold his own for the most part in Civil War. Winner: Spider-Man

4. Jessica Jones Vs. Hawkeye

Hawkeye is a highly trained assassin with a bow. Jessica Jones, by all rights, is just a brawler, which this would actually make the fight a lot closer than one may think. Also, Jessica Jones is susceptible to arrows. Sadly, all it takes is one punch from J. Jones to lay Hawkeye flat on his back. I believe this would be a far more entertaining fight than the majority of people would believe. Winner: Jessica Jones

5. Captain America Vs. Iron Fist

These two are considered the greatest fighters in all of Marvel Comics (Black Panther is right up there too!). Iron Fist really could figuratively land a one-punch and knock Cap out (he is, after all, the Immortal Weapon), but this is Captain America; he's held his own against Ultron and hordes of aliens. I'd take a shield-less Cap over Danny Rand any day. The martial arts of this contest would be insane! Winner: Captain America

6. The Punisher Vs. Black Widow

This is easily the closest of all the fights. Black Widow is a super-spy and one of the most elite assassins in the world. Frank Castle is a Marine vet that goes to extreme lengths to punish those he deemed unfit for society. The only reason why The Punisher wins in this fight is the fact that he'd go the extra mile to hurt Black Widow and I don't see her doing the same. Her arc in the movies has shown us she's moving past being an assassin. Though, she did hold her own against Crossbones. This would be an awesome fight to watch. Winner: The Punisher

7. Quake Vs. Falcon

Quake might've lost a fight to Ghost Rider, but she held her own while her bones were breaking. Plus, Ghost Rider is one of the most powerful heroes in all of Marvel Comics. Falcon got beat up by Ant-Man, and I'm not saying Ant-Man is weak by any means, but Falcon was a veteran and should've won that battle. Also, these two are the only ones that can fly, but Daisy would fair much better on the ground. All it takes is Quake dismantling Falcon's suit with her vibrations and the fight's over. Winner: Quake

Winners: Marvel Television 5-2

I basically switched up the teams from the battle at Germany's airport during Civil War and made assessments from previous battles in which they fought to see who would come out on top. The only reason I didn't include Vision was that he was called in last second, making him a Deus Ex Machina that didn't belong in this fight. Lastly, I only took known Avengers as of now. If I would've switched out Hawkeye for War Machine, then Marvel Television still would have won. I'd love to hear what you think down in the comments section.

Who would you like to see battle each other next? How excited are you for The Defenders?
