It's no secret that Tom Hanks is one of America's true and greatest treasures. As an actor, he's been able to bring slices of sentiment and joy to our lives via the big screen. But somehow, he also manages to show the world what a uniquely down-to-Earth celebrity he is.

Although Hanks is idolized for his more serious films (The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, Sully), audiences can't deny that this actor has got spunk. The most recent silly moment from Hanks came from his interview on The Graham Norton Show. While Hanks indulges us in a conversation about his firm buttocks in Forrest Gump, he reveals that his wife, Rita Wilson, has a favorite scene in particular. He then proceeds to reenact said scene:

“Every now and again, if the [film] comes on cable, my wife will say ‘Just leave it [on], honey. I want to see that one scene where you’re running away from the camera. Look at that fine Hanks ass!"

Before his earnest and romantic roles, Hanks starred in notable comedies such as Turner and Hooch and appeared on the game show Make Me Laugh. While researching for the film Punchline in the late '80s, Hanks even took a swing at stand-up comedy.

Here's a reminder:

Personally, I think we need more of this. Hanks makes a fantastic stand-up comedian. Need more validation? Just check out the kind of shenanigans he gets up to on a daily basis:

Tom Hanks And The Drunk Kid

I'm sure all of you recognize this photo by now, but this was the moment where Hanks really became recognized for his antics. Or at least, it was one of them. While unconscious from a beer-induced slumber, this kid was photobombed by Hanks. Apparently the hilarity of being knock-out drunk is something that can't be passed up.

Tom Hanks And Twitter

If you don't follow Tom Hanks on Twitter, you're missing out. I mean, really, even if you don't have a Twitter, sign up and follow him. To start off with, his Bio reads:

I'm that actor in some of the movies you liked and some you didn't. Sometimes I'm in pretty good shape, other times I'm not. Hey, you gotta live, you know?

With that byline, you can expect nothing less than arbitrary comedy gold, including random photos of Tom Hanks being, well, Tom Hanks. Right now he has this new thing with cars, and he routinely tries to help lost gloves find their way home.

Tom Hanks And The Typewriters

A few years ago, a Reddit post went viral when Nerdist host, Chris Hardwick, sent Hanks a typewriter (he collects them) as a way to lure him into an interview for his podcast. Hanks was simply amused. And then he gave in.

Recently, another post on Reddit post claimed that this typewriter (above) was signed, sealed, and delivered from T. Hanks himself after he was sent a collection of drawings of his movies from an avid fan.

Tom Hanks And 'SNL'

There are so, so many glorious Saturday Night Live moments with Hanks. He has been invited back time and time again, showing off his inner humorist and proving his worthiness as a comedian. He last hosted the show on October 22nd, 2016 and it was full of hilarious skits, including poking fun at the presidential debate.

Sometime we forget Hanks's natural goofball tendencies, but boy can he sell it. If only he would bring his antics on tour for stand-up.

Tom Hanks And Music Videos

Carly Rae Jepsen is the most innovative singer for getting , of all people, to star in her music video. How Hanks came to be in the video is a funny story itself. It seems that he is a friend of Jepsen's manager, Scooter Braun. When Braun proposed the idea to cast Hanks in "I Really Like You," Hanks held onto his beer and simply replied, "Yeah, I'll do it."

This kind of effortless humor and energy to participate in anything out of the ordinary are huge for being a success in stand-up. Hanks just seems to have this natural, cheery charisma that would do well on the comedy stage. I vote for a stand-up tour (please come to Florida).

I mean, how can you not help but love him?
