Bad news for Bridget Jones fans. Oscar-winning actor has revealed that Bridget Jones's Baby is far from being born. Although Firth is reportedly in talks for 's next -starring movie, the thesp currently has no plans to rejoin the rom-com franchise.
A third Jones book is currently being written by , but Firth says that a third movie installment could still be a long way from actually happening. In an interview with Chicago Sun Times, the actor revealed that:
Unfortunately, it might be a bit of a long wait. I wouldn't say that it's completely dead in the water, but the way it's going you might be seeing Bridget Jones's granddaughter's story being told by the time we get there.
Firth starred alongside and in the first two movies, and it is expected that they would all make a return to the franchise, if Bridget Jones' Baby was to get the go-ahead.
I guess that next time around, Bridget could be a less-than-MILF to Darcy's or Cleaver's children; she does the school drop-off in her pajamas, is looked down on by the other mothers who are significantly more glamorous and prepared with baby wipes, and is generally trying not to appear like the crazy cat lady that she has probably turned into.
