After much change in the cast and crew, the first trailer for the upcoming drama Collateral Beauty has been released. The film, which is directed by Marley & Me's David Frankel, stars an impressive A-list ensemble cast that includes Will Smith, Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Naomie Harris and Michael Peña among others.
Take a read of the official synopsis for Collateral Beauty, before diving into the trailer below:
When a successful New York advertising executive (Will Smith) experiences a deep personal tragedy and retreats from life entirely, his colleagues devise a drastic plan to force him to confront his grief in a surprising and profoundly human way.
Wow, that was more than enough to tell me that I'll need to take a box of tissues into the cinema!
While the trailer certainly sets up the story of the film well, telling the sad tale of Howard Inlet's (Will Smith) loss of his daughter, and his coping mechanism of writing to Death, Time and Love in order to work through his grief, it also leaves us with some serious questions.
Do Death, Love and Time exist in a sort of It's a Wonderful Life-type way, or given that his friends seem to know all about the letters he wrote, are the trio simply actors being paid by his friends to help Howard return to his old self?
Unfortunately, it looks like we'll have to wait until the film is released on December 16th to know for sure, but with such an amazing array of actor, it looks like Collateral Beauty will be an amazing film for the Christmas season, no matter which way the story unfolds.
Collateral Beauty hits theaters on December 16, 2016.
