As each day passes, we grow closer to the premieres of all of our favorite shows on The CW! I thoroughly enjoyed the second-half of Supergirl's first season, and I can't wait to see what Kara does next! Also, Tyler Hoechlin was cast as Superman in Season 2, and had these encouraging words to say:
It’s Superman as I think he was intended to be, which is just an incredible symbol of hope to kids that they can do anything, that they can be good people, and that good people can triumph over evil. You don’t have to be dark and brooding and always in this state of masculine toughness. He sits in that very hopeful and optimistic place that Kara tends to be in.
How are you not excited for what's next in Supergirl? I tend to follow every tidbit of information regarding my favorite shows, so I'm pretty much up-to-date on all things Supergirl! Like, we're going to see Lena Luthor and Cadmus Labs play a huge part in this upcoming season! We're going to see Miss Martian this season. I love DC on TV! OK, let's get to the main point of this article, shall we?
Will Superman Be The Big Bad In Season 2?
Wait, didn't he just say he was going to a symbol of hope, and you bought that? Y'see, what could be a better antagonist than your only living relative from your home planet that was destroyed? Also, if I was writing this show, then I'd have Superman start out being extremely lovable before I turned him evil. Furthermore, Kara's adoptive father is alive, and he is an expert in all things Kryptonian. Couldn't he just be Cyborg Superman? Maybe.
I believe that Lex is dead in this world, and Lena Luthor is seeking revenge on Superman. Also, during Non's plan to take over the world, Superman would have been extremely easy to apprehend. I'll give any Luthor the benefit of the doubt regarding how they weren't affected by Non's device. Furthermore, by having Clark and Kara fight side-by-side in the beginning of the season — well, you just tested out your experiment and it worked. Lena Luthor would have all the supplies she needs at Cadmus Labs to change Superman to whatever she deems worthy. This is a perfect revenge scheme for the death of her brother, Lex. But wait, there's more!
You do know that Mon-El was in that Pod at the end of Season 1, right? If not, here's a refresher:
Mon-El might not be from Krypton, but he's a version of Superboy in the comics. Why would you need all that man power unless you're fighting Superman? And yes, there are a lot of reasons why the show probably decided to use him, but I'm going with battling against The Last Son of Krypton as the main reason!
Now, there are tons of reasons why this wouldn't work. The main problem is that people are sick of a brooding Superman. I get that, but I rather have a compelling story above anything else. Honestly, it doesn't get much more compelling than Supergirl fighting Superman. Lastly, it doesn't even have to be the real Superman — it could be his clones. Would that make you feel better?
I could be totally wrong, but something about Superman's outfit for the upcoming season makes me think, Injustice: Gods Among Us (obviously). Also, I believe this would be an amazing story to tell on The CW. Now, people are sick of a Superman that isn't smiling, but he can be evil and smile as well! So, there's that. Is it October yet?
