Two weeks from now, Logan will have had its world premiere at the Berlinale Film Festival. If that's the moment of truth, the point at which we find out whether Hugh Jackman will bow out as #Wolverine with the truly great movie he deserves, for now Fox are happy to keep the hype train going with various TV spots and teasers — like this one, the first proper clip from Logan.
And on this evidence, I'd say the omens are pretty good. The clip, presumably from the opening act, finds #Logan looking bleary-eyed, weary and tired. But if he's lost a little intimidation factor, that superhuman strength remains, as a redneck landowner discovers when he comes knocking at the property of Logan's so-far unidentified friend.
The situation escalates when the unwanted visitors prepares to fire his shotgun. I'll say no more — watch the clip below and let Logan do the talking.
I think it's pretty fair to say that Logan's mutant blood probably won't stay secret for much longer. Beyond the name of his friend, there's still plenty we don't know about Logan, and that air of mystery should do a pretty good job of building anticipation over the next couple of weeks.
Sit tight for the world premiere in Berlin on February 17, when we should get a better idea of just how great this refreshingly grounded superhero movie might actually be.
Logan arrives in theaters in the US on March 3.
Is Logan going to be a game-changer for the superhero genre?
