Before Wonder Woman's cinematic release, the film had a lot to prove. It was the fourth offering from the DCEU (a franchise that had yet to produce a critically acclaimed film), the character's big screen debut and the first solo female superhero film in over a decade. Thus, it's safe to say that there was a lot riding on the film's release.

However, like the titular character, Wonder Woman didn't just overcome the odds, it completely obliterated them. The film was acclaimed by fans and critics and broke countless box-office records, surpassing many superhero films on its way to the top. And now, it has hit another milestone.

See Ya Later, Deadpool

According to Forbes, Wonder Woman's domestic total has crossed $395 million, bringing its worldwide total to a staggering $786 million. That means that it has officially beaten 's worldwide cume of $783.1 million. Given that Deadpool left an important mark on the world of superhero films, this is an outstanding accomplishment.

However, this isn't the first time that they've come into contact with each other. Back when Wonder Woman topped Deadpool's domestic takings, actor Ryan Reynolds took to Instagram to post a hilarious congratulatory message that Deadpool would be proud of.

Moreover, both films are actually more alike than you would think, as both are considered revolutionary to the superhero genre. The overwhelming success of Deadpool may have paved the way for a hoard of future R-rated superhero films, and it's hoped that Wonder Woman will do the same for female superhero films.

The success of both suggests that we may see more films in the vein of these two, starting with their respective sequels, both of which are set to be released in the next two years.

Despite the odds, Diana of Themyscira has even managed to overcome the formidable Wade Wilson on her way to becoming one of the most successful film of all-time. If her incredible journey continues, the film's domestic total may just pass the likes of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, Captain America: Civil War and Iron Man 3. This looks like a job for Wonder Woman!
